Navy Beach
Mono Lake is one of Nature's jewel set in the Sierra mountains of
California, just East of Yosemite National Park. This lake has a few
in streams, but for thousands of years had no out streams. A unique
ecosystem has developed that thrives in this harsh environement: the
water is three time saltier than sea water.
A few years ago this lake was dying because
the Los Angeles water authority had diverted some of the streams alimenting
it for its own usage. Thanks to the fight of a few dedicated conservationits,
the lake has now been saved and will remain for future generations
to enjoy.
